Dental x-rays are a key component to excellent dental care. X-rays, or radiographs, of the teeth and bone allow the dentist to visualize areas that can't be seen with the naked eye and also diagnose problems at their earliest stages. Individual x-rays show one to three teeth at a time and the supporting bone. A panoramic x-ray (goes around the entire head) shows all the teeth in both jaws on a single x-ray.
At Quest Dental, all x-rays taken are digital. Compared to old film x-rays, digital x-rays are not only high quality, but they are safer and can be viewed instantly by the dentist and patient. The advancement of digital x-rays through the years have made the dental environment safer for the patient by reducing radiation up to 90% when compared to film x-rays. Everyone in the US on average receives 20x more radiation yearly in their daily routines than a full mouth of digital dental x-rays.
